Jan. 6 Capitol Protest—Idaho

About

Roughly 200 protesters demonstrated against President Biden’s electoral victory in front of the Idaho statehouse in Boise on Jan. 6, 2021. Organized by the Idaho chapter of MAGA girl, a pro-Trump group, the event was promoted on the Idaho Liberty Dogs Facebook page, which encouraged people to bring flags. Protesters heard a livestream of Trump speaking at the early afternoon rally in Washington, along with local speakers such as Republican State Rep. Aaron von Ehlinger and Tom Munds, an area coordinator for the reactionary John Birch Society.

In April 2020, anti-lockdown demonstrators interrupted a session of the Idaho legislature, something analysts later described as one of several “dress rehearsals” for the storming of the U.S. capitol on Jan. 6.
