In seven states, dozens of political operatives and Republican party officials participated in trying to overturn the results of the 2020 election by submitting fake Electoral College votes for Trump. Prosecutors in most of these states are working to hold those involved accountable but none of the cases is likely to be resolved before the 2024 election.
