The America Project

About

The America Project is a 501c4 advocacy group founded by former Overstock CEO Patrick Byrne, former National Security Adviser and Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, and his brother Joe Flynn. The group has investigated allegations of election fraud and conducted campaigns on issues such as abortion rights and immigration.

The America Project describes itself as “the largest support group network of America-First, Pro-Freedom organizations, business [sic], and individuals.” Among the group’s events is the ReAwaken America Tour, a series of rallies featuring Byrne, Flynn, his niece Julia Flynn, “and other intelligent Patriots” who promise to help people “expand” their “knowledge on all things Faith, Family, and Freedom.”

The America Project is bankrolling lawsuits filed in 2022 by John Paul Mac Isaac, the Delaware computer repairman who went public with material he discovered on Hunter Biden’s laptop, which was left at his shop. Isaac has filed a multimillion-dollar defamation suit against Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), CNN, The Daily Beast, and Politico, saying they falsely accused him of peddling Russian disinformation.

January 6, 2021

  • The America Project founders (Byrne and the Flynn brothers) appeared on The Alex Jones Show in November 2021 to discuss election fraud. During their conversation, Byrne accused “the deep state” of instigating the Jan. 6 insurrection to “trigger a bloody civil war.”
  • Tim Meisburger, a former Trump official at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), is now leading voter fraud campaigns for The America Project. Meisburger quit the agency after a video went viral showing him telling staffers that the Capitol attack was mostly peaceful except for “a few violent people” and claiming that “several million” others were demonstrating peacefully for election reforms.

The Big Lie

  • In June 2022, The America Project launched a #DecertifyFraud campaign that sought to prevent five states from destroying paper ballots from the 2020 election in order to continue the investigation into baseless allegations of voter fraud. “We are committed to election integrity and snuffing out voter fraud,” said Joe Flynn. “Unfortunately, in a little over two months, ballots in these five key states will be destroyed and we might never know the extent of the fraud that occurred in 2020.”
  • In July 2022, the group announced a new initiative called Operation Eagles Wings to combat future election fraud by training far-right activists how to canvas and poll watch, activities that prompt voting rights watchdogs to raise concerns about voter intimidation.

Election Audits

  • The America Project contributed $3.25 million of the $5.7 million paid to the IT firm Cyber Ninjas to conduct an audit of the 2020 election results in Maricopa County, Arizona. Cyber Ninjas also got $150,000 from the Arizona Senate to conduct the audit.
  • The America Project launched the website Fundtheaudit.com to solicit donations for an audit of the Arizona election results and had raised more than $1.7 million by May 2021.
  • Seth Keshel, a former Army captain who now works as a paid consultant for The America Project, said that Trump supporters are waging a “two-front war”—auditing the 2020 election and preparing for 2024.
