Brandon Beach is a Georgia state senator who helped to appoint a slate of “fake electors” who would cast fraudulent Electoral College votes for Trump even though Biden won the presidential election in Georgia. He has been accused of facilitating conversations between Trump’s presidential campaign and the fake electors.
Beach and fellow state senator and candidate for lieutenant governor Burt Jones were at the center of efforts to conceal a secret meeting of 16 fake electors in Georgia. He also allegedly drafted a Jan. 5, 2021 letter to then-Vice President Mike Pence demanding that he halt the congressional certification of Electoral College votes the following day.
The Big Lie
- On Dec. 8, 2020, Beach and 15 other Georgia lawmakers signed an amicus brief supporting Texas v. Pennsylvania, a lawsuit filed by the state of Texas urging the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn the results of the presidential election in four swing states: Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
- On. Dec. 14, 2020, Beach helped host a meeting with fake electors at the Georgia State Capitol building in Atlanta. Robert Sinners, Trump’s campaign director for Georgia, told the group to keep their plans secret and if anyone from the media and others questioned their presence that day, to say that they had a meeting with either Beach or Jones.
- On Jan. 5, 2021, Beach was one of more than 80 state legislators to sign a letter to then-Vice President Mike Pence demanding a halt to the congressional certification of Electoral College votes that he was to preside over the following day. Got Freedom director Phill Kline allegedly said on a Jan. 2, 2021 call with supporters that Beach was one of the authors of the letter, which the senator later denied.
- During the week of June 10, 2021, Beach and Jones traveled to Maricopa County, Arizona and toured the facility where the fraudulent Arizona election audit was taking place. (That same week, Beach accepted a “Warrior” award at Georgia’s Republican Party convention.)
