On Jan. 6, 2021, a group of Trump supporters protested in front of the California state capitol in Sacramento, where many chanted, “Stop the steal!” Eleven people were arrested for possessing pepper spray, and some 200 police officers were deployed for crowd control. Several fights reportedly broke out between Trump supporters and those who believed the 2020 presidential election had been free and fair.
In Los Angeles, another demonstration took place that day during which a Black woman was beaten with a flag pole.
