Scott Chafian is a retired U.S. Naval officer and husband of conservative activist Cindy Chafian, founder of the Eighty Percent Coalition (EPC), a group she established in support of Trump after he lost the 2020 presidential election. He also appears to be affiliated with the group 1st Amendment Praetorian, which provided security at pro-Trump rallies in November and December 2020 and at the Jan. 6, 2021 March to Save America on the Ellipse.
Chafian served in the Navy from 1992–2012, specializing in surface warfare, according to the website Together We Served. He also lists “expeditionary and anti-terrorism officer” on his LinkedIn profile.
In 2012, Chaifian launched ETC International, a company that “conducts training engagements in support of security assistance, building partnership capacity (BPC), and foreign military sales (FMS) projects,” according to its website. In 2004, he wrote a master’s thesis on the Nazi response to Russian tanks during World War II.
January 6, 2021
- A Twitter thread from an account named “capitolhunters” shows Chafian joining his wife Cindy in a golf cart caravan from the Ellipse to the Capitol. The thread also shows video footage of members of the mob attacking D.C. police officer Michael Fanone. After the beating, photo and video footage from this thread shows Chafian headed towards a tunnel where a fight ensued.
