Hundreds of Trump supporters protested in Denver in front of the Colorado state Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. The event was called “We Are the Storm,” and participants held “stop the steal” signs. Many demonstrators wore military gear, and some carried bear spray and riot shields. Members of the Proud Boys and Three Percenters attended. Counterprotesters also rallied at the capitol, and a Trump supporter used a taser against them before being arrested.
The Mayor of Denver ordered city government offices closed as a result of the demonstration, and civil servants were released from work to return home unless otherwise directed by their supervisors. The state legislature’s joint budget committee also postponed its work and adjourned for the day.
