Robert Hyde is a U.S. senate candidate perhaps best known for allegedly helping to track U.S. Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch’s movements in Ukraine as part of a scheme with Rudy Giuliani associate Lev Parnas to dig up damaging information on Hunter Biden.
Although his proximity to Yovanovitch is unclear, Hyde has become close with key figures in Trump circles like Giuliani and others. Hyde was present with Giuliani and his “legal team” at the so-called “War Room” at the Willard Hotel on Jan. 6, 2021, Hyde’s own Instagram account shows.
January 6, 2021
- On. Jan. 6, 2021, Hyde along with as many as two dozen other high-level Trump supporters and lawyers were present at a block of suites at the Willard Hotel, where they gathered to spread false evidence of election fraud and pressure Republican lawmakers in Washington and across the country to object to certification of the election results, including Vice President Mike Pence.
The Big Lie
- Hyde has posted prolifically about election conspiracy theories. Although it’s unclear exactly how he came into contact with Giuliani, the two are tied together through the Ukraine scandal and their shared presence at the Willard Hotel War Room. On at least two occasions, Hyde has met personally with former president Donald Trump, according to Hyde’s social media posts.
Post-2020 Election Subversion
- Since Jan. 6, 2021, Hyde continues to post prolifically about election and other conspiracy theories. His campaign website contains policies that reflect anti-mask and anti-vaccine sentiment, as well as general far right views on law enforcement, immigration and foreign policy.
