About
On Jan. 5, 2021, a group of 12 Republican members of the U.S. House of Representatives sent a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) claiming “significant abuses in our election system” but signaling their support for certifying the Electoral College votes as submitted on Jan. 6. Despite this support, the letter contained unfounded allegations of widespread voter fraud that echoed a Dec. 15, 2020 letter to Pelosi from 26 far-right incoming House members.
The dozen signatories noted that fellow Republicans who were planning to object to certification of Electoral College votes on Jan. 6 were “delegitimizing the very system that led Donald Trump to victory in 2016, and that could provide the only path to victory in 2024.”

- All 12 signatories of the letter voted to certify the Electoral College votes confirming President Biden’s victory.
