Kansas Jan. 6 Statehouse Protest

About

Former Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach was one of approximately 200 demonstrators who came to the state Capitol in Topeka on Jan. 6, 2021 to protest Joe Biden’s electoral victory. Kobach promoted the idea that state legislatures are responsible for selecting the electors who determine the presidency.

On Jan. 6, 2021, two dozen demonstrators entered the state Capitol rotunda through the security checkpoint and milled about for roughly an hour. They chanted, “stop the steal,” “four more years” and “no more masks.” Some participants carried weapons, but no disturbances were reported.

Jessica Pereira of Kansas Rallies was one of the demonstration’s organizers. “We believe that we won the election by a landslide and it’s been really difficult for us to show all the fraud that’s been going on,” she said.
