Jan. 6 Capitol Protest—Kansas

About

Former Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach was one of approximately 200 demonstrators who gathered at the statehouse in Topeka on Jan. 6, 2021 to protest President Biden’s electoral victory. He promoted the idea that state legislatures are responsible for selecting the electors who ultimately determine which candidate becomes president.

On Jan. 6, 2021, two dozen demonstrators entered the state Capitol rotunda through the security checkpoint and milled about for roughly an hour chanting “Stop the steal,” “Four more years,” and “No more masks.” Some participants carried weapons, but no disturbances were reported.

Jessica Pereira of Kansas Rallies, one of the organizers of the demonstration, procalimed: “We believe that we won the election by a landslide and it’s been really difficult for us to show all the fraud that’s been going on.”
