January 6 Capitol Protest—Michigan

Michigan State Police estimated that roughly 700–800 Trump supporters gathered in front of the state’s Capitol in Lansing to protest President Biden’s electoral victory. Rallygoers carried signs saying “Stop the steal” and “Fake virus,” and more than a dozen carried rifles.

Member of the Proud Boys hate group were in attendance but the demonstration remained peaceful. Rep. Steve Carra (R) spoke to the crowd, saying that he had signed a letter asking Vice President Mike Pence to overturn the results and to send the certification process back to state legislatures.
