In New Mexico, only one election denier is running for Congress in 2024—a former member of the House who is hoping to win her second term after narrowly losing to her Democratic opponent in 2022:
- Yvette Herrell | House (NM–2)
Just days after she was sworn in to her first term in Congress, Yvette Herrell voted against certifying President Biden’s win of the 2020 election, announcing her plan to object via a Facebook post on New Year’s Eve. After redistricting, she narrowly lost her reelection bid in 2022 but is challenging incumbent Representative Gabriel Vasquez (D) in 2024 in a tightly contested race that the National Republican Congressional Committee is actively targeting in hopes of recouping a House seat. In 2022, Herrell accepted a campaign donation from one of New Mexico’s fake electors and she routinely spreads disinformation about election integrity via her social media accounts.
