Oregon Jan. 6 Capitol Protest

About

Pro-Trump protesters burned an effigy of the Oregon governor in front of the state Capitol in Salem on Jan. 6, 2021. A speaker told the crowd, “The coup is in full effect. The coup is on. It’s been on for the last four years, but it’s moving very quickly. So you guys need to be ready for it.”

Protesters skirmished with counter-demonstrators and police. At least one member of the far-right group Patriot Prayer was charged for his involvement in the violence. One man armed with a firearm was arrested for attempting to enter the state capitol. State police declared the gathering an unlawful assembly around 2 PM and dispersed most of the crowd by 3 PM.
